"Exquisite Workmanship"
French born, Lucie Campbell started to trade in Antique Jewellery and rare precious objects in 1961. Self taught, intuitive and passionate she soon earned a reputation as a dealer with a discerning eye. She often showed her two young sons the fine pieces she had acquired.
In 1979, still in his teens, her son Robert joined the business, and his apprenticeship was by her side. In the mid eighties, inspired and emulated by numerous artistic styles and marvellous craftsmanship of the vintage pieces - already becoming increasingly rare when perfect and complete, Robert started to manufacture.
The enthusiastic response was overwhelming and the small family business was expanding. At the same time Robert's younger brother Richard, who had recently graduated from Cambridge, joined the firm and took care of marketing. Richard also developed a special fascination for diamonds and he was soon exhibiting quite a flair and talent for finding, in his travels, exceptional stones.
At present the firm employs a dedicated team of forty, of which thirty are accomplished skilled craftsmen who carry out in house every single stage of the production, under Robert's management. If only two words were permitted to describe Lucie Campbell 's jewellery they would be: "Exquisite workmanship". The company is rare among traditional jewellers in that it maintains high level of wholesale and manufacturing operations in addition to its retail store, opened in 2002, at 26 New Bond Street London.
Lucie Campbell has recently retired and her two sons successfully continue to manage the firm in partnership with the same passion, dedication and commitment.
Although most people will spell Lucie with the English spelling of Lucy, because of our French connection the correct spelling is Lucie not Lucy when reffering to Lucie Campbell
